We thrive on the richness of our diverse community, with students representing over 31 nationalities. Inclusion is not only valued and respected at GSB, in fact it, it is part of our DNA. Bilingual minds more easily learn to understand and respect different perspectives which in return promotes empathy. Fostering a global mindset and a more just world for all is imperative to our school.

GSB and Welcoming Schools

GSB is proud to partner with Welcoming Schools, a comprehensive, LGBTQ+ inclusive anti-bias program developed by the Human Rights Campaign. Through this collaboration, GSB enriches its commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students. Together, we work to provide educators with the resources and tools they need to foster empathy, celebrate diversity, and address issues of bias and discrimination. We aim to empower students to build a strong sense of self, while embracing the uniqueness of others, ultimately shaping a more compassionate school community.

Glossary

Equity. A strategy used to promote fairness, in which individuals are given what they need to be successful.

Equality. A strategy to promote fairness, that treats each individual exactly the same way.

Equality aims to promote fairness, but it can work only if everyone starts from the same place and needs the same help. We strive to achieve equity, knowing that each learner may need something different in order to reach full potential. Specifically, this means that students’ personal or social circumstances, such as ethnic origin, family background, or gender should not be obstacles to their educational potential.
