Pamina Lascano
ELL, GLL and Support Teacher
The excitement I’ve seen through the eyes of my students over the past 10 years has continued to drive my passion for teaching and watching young learners grow. Teaching ESL and general language instruction is invaluable within our multicultural world. The love for language I developed throughout the years is derived from my multilingual family. Growing up speaking German, French, and English, and spending many summers in Austria with my grandmother, has given me a profound appreciation for the rich cultural differences we encounter every day. These experiences have allowed me to embrace the beauty of culture, as well as my Austrian and American background.
My love for language and teaching inspired me to pursue my Master’s Degree in TESOL, which I completed at Teachers College, Columbia University, as well as my TESOL Certificate. I have taught at Columbia University, Saint Peter’s University, Pace University’s Giocamondo program, as well as The United Nations LCTU program, and various language schools and programs. My expertise lies in teaching students in grades Pre-K – 2, as well as university-level education. Along with these language programs, I have coached expatriate learners and their families in learning English as a second language.
In the classroom, I strive to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for all my students. It is my goal to consistently encourage my students to discover the world through language, engaging activities, and to ask many questions to continue to expand their linguistic skills. My approach is holistic with the goal of having fun and learning.
It is a pleasure and joy to collaborate with the teachers and staff at GSB, as well as the students!
