Joon Choi
Science Teacher
I am excited to be GSB’s science teacher! Before transitioning into education, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a cancer, obesity, and Prader-Willi Syndrome researcher, where I was deeply involved in exploring new ways to understand and combat complex diseases. My journey in science began at Virginia Tech, where I earned my Bachelors and Masters degrees and developed a passion for both research and education. My experience in research has not only deepened my understanding of scientific content, but has also given me a unique perspective on the real-world applications of scientific principles.
In my classroom, I aim to create an environment where learning is both fun and educational. I believe that science is not just a subject to be studied, but a fascinating journey to be experienced. My goal is to make each lesson engaging and interactive, whether through hands-on experiments, lively discussions, or creative projects that allow students to explore concepts in depth.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for science with students, and I am always eager to explore the wonders of the natural world. Each academic year will be one of discovery and growth!
My interests outside of teaching include cooking, hiking, powerlifting, photography, rugby, traveling, and wrestling/jiu jitsu.
