Bilingualism, easy as 1, 2, 3

I’ve been at GSB since Kindergarten, and now I’m in eighth grade. I speak German and English fluently, and I feel so lucky to be at a school where I’m able to embrace both of those cultures, and even blend them together. When I tell people that I’m bilingual, their first reaction is usually something like, “What?!?!?” or “How do you manage that?” But truthfully, it’s never been a challenge for me. If anything, knowing and learning two separate languages has been beneficial. When learning, I frequently make connections between the languages, which makes it easier for me to understand new concepts.
