Alina Pulfer
Grade 5 Class Teacher,
German Subjects
Growing up in Switzerland, I had the privilege of being exposed to a diverse range of cultures, languages, and perspectives from an early age. At 17, I came to the United States as an exchange student, where I had the opportunity to experience a completely different school system and culture. This transformative experience deepened my understanding of the importance of a global perspective in education and motivated me to pursue a career in teaching!
After completing my bilingual Matura with a major in Spanish, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in pre-primary and primary education. Over the next three years, I studied at PHBern, gaining valuable classroom experience and graduating with an additional degree in teaching English as a second language. Beyond my studies, I taught swimming to young children, coached our local soccer team, and traveled throughout Europe.
During college, I began working as a substitute teacher for grades 5 and 6. Since 2020, I have been teaching lower school students. A big part of my first few years as a teacher was developing and implementing a new project in our state to integrate children with special needs using a new approach to unite “Regelschule” and “Sonderschule”.
My approach to teaching revolves around the belief that learning should be fun, dynamic, and child-centric. I am committed to creating a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel safe, valued, and inspired to explore their creativity and curiosity. I believe that building authentic, trusting relationships with students is key to any learning and to creating a supportive classroom environment.
I look forward to continuing to grow as an educator and sharing my passion for teaching with the GSB community!
