Kindergarten class teacher, Grade 1 Art teacher
I have been living in the U.S. for over 25 years. I received my Bachelors Degree in Art and Computer Graphics at Pratt Institute and my MA in Art Education from Brooklyn College.
I have been teaching for over eight years in New York City, mainly in Elementary Schools and with Kindergarteners. I have worked at the Town School, St. Athanasius and Pusteblume. This will be my third year at GSB.
I enjoy working with children of all ages. Every year I look forward to my role as a Kindergarten teacher. Teaching is fun, challenging and rewarding.
My goal is to teach children in playful ways so they can enjoy learning. Most of the subjects I teach incorporate art, play and games. I believe if the children are happy in school, they feel safe. Thus they will learn, thrive and stay motivated.
This year I will not only teach Art in Kindergarten but also in first grade. I will continue teaching the elements of design, the principles of design, and design thinking. We will explore materials and learn about different artists and their techniques through fun projects. We will enhance our fine motor skills by using different tools. Children are creative by nature, and I hope to broaden their knowledge of art methods so they can choose the right tools, techniques and medium to express their ideas.
I enjoy attending Responsive Classroom workshops to learn more about teaching in a way that encourages social-emotional as well as academic growth in students. Outside of teaching, I love art, traveling and taking pictures.
