Chandry began her teaching career in New York City as a nursery 2-3s’ teacher. She went on to expand her field experience in early childhood classrooms as a kindergarten and first grade teacher in both private and public schools. Such schools have included; The Brooklyn New School, The Earth School, and Manhattan Country School. Having a love for music as a young person, she went on to study voice performance at the University of Washington School of Music where she studied both piano and voice earning her a BA degree in music in 2008. Through volunteering Chandry discovered her passion and curiosity for nurturing and supporting young children. Chandry went on to earn her M.S.Ed degree in early childhood education with specialization in the K-2nd grade classroom from Brooklyn College. Chandry regards the art of teaching and working with children as a gift. Before joining the English teaching team at GSB Chandry resided as a voice and piano faculty at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Her pedagogical training in music also includes Dalcroze Eurythmics, a method in which spontaneity in music is encouraged through singing, listening, reacting, and engaging in kinesthetic bodily movement.

“As a teacher in the classroom, I aim to teach through a lens that’s a hands-on approach and is based in social emotional learning. I believe this type of learning is essential for young children. In my experience, creating a classroom environment where each child feels safe, valued, and apart of a community is crucial to their success. I feel a great deal of joy supporting and teaching children. I enjoy watching them grow as learners and helping them learn to be curious and compassionate toward others.”

When not teaching, Chandry enjoys the performing arts, reading a good book, attending to her cats, and spending time with her husband.
